About MoniTwitter

MoniTwitter is a small, independent website about one practical job: keeping an eye on X for the things you care about. That might be people mentioning your product, customers saying your site won't load, or a topic you follow for work. The site has two parts, a free X advanced search query builder and a set of guides on using search, lists and a bit of routine to watch X without paying for a listening dashboard.

Why a query builder

X's search is far more capable than its search box suggests. Operators like from:, -filter:replies and min_faves: let you cut a noisy stream down to the dozen posts that actually need you. The trouble is remembering the syntax, getting the parentheses right when you combine OR with other conditions, and typing it on a phone. The builder does the typing. You fill in the fields, it writes the query and hands you a link to the Latest tab, and you save that search on X so it is always one tap away.

The builder runs entirely in your browser. It makes no network requests, stores nothing, and sends nothing to us or anyone else. X does the actual searching when you open the link, and you need to be signed in to X to see results.

Who writes the guides

The guides are written by the MoniTwitter Team, a few people who have run support inboxes, launched products and been on call for websites that went down at bad times. We write about what we use ourselves: saved searches, private lists, a status page, a simple uptime check and a short daily check-in. When a feature depends on a paid X plan or might change, we say so, and we date every guide.

We don't sell monitoring software, don't run ads, and don't take payment for mentions. If we name a tool, it's because it's a common, free or open-source option, and there are no affiliate links on this site.

The name and the domain

The name MoniTwitter comes from this domain's early days, when it hosted a small service that checked whether a website was up and sent a notice through Twitter when it wasn't. That idea of watching something for you and telling you where you already are is still the point of the site, now done with search instead of a bot.

The site was relaunched in 2026 under new, independent management. It has no connection to earlier owners of the domain or to the services that ran here before.
